India moved home and joined the family firm in 2006, after several years working at the renowned San Francisco design studio, Tedrick & Bennett. She quickly developed a reputation for creating timeless interiors with a comfortable appeal. “You want the people living in the house to feel like they are part of the place.”

Each project is a process designed to evoke the spirit of the place, create an atmosphere that embodies the client’s lifestyle, and incorporate the surroundings into the home. She takes a holistic view of the built environment, using only carefully sourced materials and transparent fabrication practices.

Her work has been published in Veranda, Elle Decor, Traditional Home and House Beautiful. India also creates furniture and objects for the home under the moniker, Shizen Studio. Inspired by the environment around her, she builds one of a kind pieces using local materials and artisans. Her organic designs encourage people to appreciate the beauty of the natural world in their everyday life.
